Last weekend, I had the amazing opportunity to take part in Heaven’s Rehearsal 2008.
[If you have no idea what that is, I included the YouTube promo video for it (1:16 in length) for you to familiarize yourself a little below.]
I’m guessing about 30,000 people were present inside the Roger’s Centre (SKYDOME) to come together for this amazing night of worship. And to be honest with you, I was a little skeptical about it at first, when I looked around to see people arriving at this event like any other ball game or concert at this venue. Like those who were sitting beside us, scarfing down a double-fisted helping of nachos and cheese in one hand, partnered with pizza in the other (yes I could smell them all night!)
So I told myself to stop being religious and not to worry about how others were getting ready for a night that carried a lot of expectation in my own heart. I should just be open to whatever God had for me, mute the ‘pastoral’ mindset, and focus in on a night where I could just be ‘me’ in the Presence of God.
So that I did.
And what an AMAZING night it was.
Amazing to see hundreds of nations represented at this event. To hear the scriptures read by tongues of many different ethnicities (which always seem to sound more holy this way). To see dance routines performed by aboriginals decked out in glorious original outfits. To take joy in the spirit of excellence that marked this event representing the Lord (who says Canadians can’t go big?) To imagine all the seeds that were planted in the hearts of all the Rogers Centre staff working the event. To sing along with tens of thousands and be blown away by the thought the crowd that night will be multiplied by tens of thousands when we all get to Heaven!
WOW.
If a little bit of Heaven on earth is this good… I can’t wait to see ‘what God has prepared for those who love Him‘!!!
AMEN!!!!!
wow PJ. that looks like it would have been UNBELIEVABLE. very cool.
